As we began our reading of James Joyce's book "A portrait of the artists as a young man" we already noticed certain points that we found interesting. First we found that he has no transitions in his text, and a veil over his words. Its like you have to read into it to truly understand his words. Also, Joyce uses real life images to challenge our thought to find what he is saying. One example is the different colored flowers on the chest of the young men. Spelling color as "colour" we found that Joyce was not referring to actual colors but to the emblems found on the young men. Coming to realize this we were able to recognize the setting to be a boarding school and the age of the young men to be young teens.

Though colour is a spelling variation of the word color, I see where your going with your thought on dwelling into writing of James Joyce. His writings are, at times very uncomprehensible, and the action of thinking in a more in-depth manner is neccesary.
